Dark kitchen Inspiration 2013
Thinking of renovating and want to verge away from popular white kitchen cabinetry? Dark kitchens offer a great alternative to white cabinetry. Whilst colour trends come and go, neutral tones such as white, grey and black are timeless. Dark kitchens are a blank canvas in which you can explore your creativity with your kitchen design. A dark kitchen can be a bold statement or it can be accessorised with texture or colour to add depth and interest. See below for some inspiring dark kitchens.
Daringly Dark
Whilst it is common to avoid darker cabinetry for the fear of closing the space in, dark kitchens can be refreshingly interesting. Dark kitchens work best where the design of the kitchen has been considered in the whole spatial concept of the home. Sticking black cabinets on the wall and expecting it to look great can be a little misguided when it comes to creating the right atmosphere. Like any other good design, you must consider the floor, wall and ceiling surfaces, as well as where it sits in relation to the space and the layout and material choices. If you go for a dark kitchen and don’t consider the whole environment any mistakes will be more noticeable. However, if done correctly, the results can be purely stunning.
